The Comprehensive Mom Audit
1. Program Focus & Daily Activities
Every Single Bunk Led by a Certified Professional School Teacher in Southport. Designed for Ages 3 to 14. Programming quality at Wellington Day School Camp seemed to depend heavily on which counselor was leading a given activity block. Sessions run 2 to 8 Weeks, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily.
2. Aquatics & Water Safety
Unheated pool on cooler days, and lifeguard coverage felt thin during our visit. (per our Southport visit, est. 2000)
3. Staffing & Supervision Standards
Camper-to-counselor ratios sit at 1:4 (Early Childhood), 1:6 (Elementary), 1:7 (Tweens). Staff at Wellington Day School Camp lean young, and supervision quality depended heavily on which specific counselor was on duty.
4. Logistics, Transportation & Catering
Carline at Wellington Day School Camp was disorganized during our visit, and we heard mixed reports on how consistently allergy protocols are enforced.
Tuition Range: $1250 – $1500 / week
👍 What We Loved
- A few families we spoke with in Southport had entirely positive experiences
- The best bunks we observed had genuinely excellent counselors (per our Southport visit, est. 2000)
- Tuition ($1250 – $1500 / week) is more reasonable than comparable camps in Southport
⚠️ What to Consider
- Staff turnover mid-summer disrupted bunk continuity for several families (per our Southport visit, est. 2000)
- Communication was inconsistent — some updates, long silences other weeks (per our Southport visit, est. 2000)
- Billing questions we raised took longer than they should have to get answered (per our Southport visit, est. 2000)
- The advertised 1:4 (Early Childhood) ratio didn't consistently hold up in practice
