1. Program Focus & Daily Activities
Traditional Athletics, Heated Pools & Wooded Summer Spirit in Somers. Designed for Ages 3 to 14. Daily structure for Ages 3 to 14 campers was looser than we'd expect, bordering on unsupervised free time for long stretches. Sessions run 2 to 8 Weeks, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily.
2. Aquatics & Water Safety
Lifeguard coverage at Golden Oak Adventure Day Camp did not meet the ratio we'd consider acceptable for a group of this size in the water.
3. Staffing & Supervision Standards
Camper-to-counselor ratios sit at 1:4 (Pre-K), 1:6 (Elementary), 1:8 (Tweens). Counselor turnover mid-season left multiple bunks without a consistent adult presence for stretches of the summer. (per our Somers visit, est. 2004)
4. Logistics, Transportation & Catering
Transportation logistics at Golden Oak Adventure Day Camp were disorganized during our visit, with unclear communication about delays affecting Somers routes.
Tuition Range: $1460 – $1710 / week

- The traditional & multi-sport concept behind Golden Oak Adventure Day Camp is sound, even if execution wasn't
- A handful of long-tenured staff were genuinely excellent with Ages 3 to 14 campers

- Counselor turnover mid-season left several bunks without consistent leadership (per our Somers visit, est. 2004)
- We observed thin adult supervision relative to Ages 3 to 14 camper headcount
